Chester entered our lives in May 2013 and within the first week that he was living with
us, we saw a change in our son.
Jay started talking more and not just within our family,
but to others that have been on the edges of his world. This aspect really hit home for me
when Wade came to Jay’s school to do Chester’s school entry assembly. Jay interrupted
Wade’s presentation to say something to his fellow students. It was amazing to witness
Jay standing up in front of the entire school telling them about Chester. Now that Chester
goes to school with him, Jay’s school day has improved. When Jay gets anxious or
stressed, he uses Chester to help calm him and he can move on with his day. Jay has
also become more open in expressing his emotions to members of our family, both the
negative and the positive. Jay has accepted and embraced the responsibility of having
Chester quite readily and enthusiastically. He tells Chester everyday that he loves him. A
simple thank you cannot adequately express our feelings to Autism Dog Services for the
miracle that all these beautiful dogs bring.
